How to fill it in
- Enter the employee and the period — Who the timesheet is for and the start and end dates of the pay period.
- Add each day or task — Enter the hours and the hourly rate for each line. Use one row per day or per job if that helps.
- Check the totals — Total hours and total pay are calculated. Check them against your own records before paying.
- Get it approved — Print the PDF and have the worker and approver sign it. Keep it with your payroll records.
Questions people ask
Does a timesheet calculate tax?
No. This timesheet calculates hours and gross pay only. Income tax and social security or payroll deductions need to be handled separately.
Can I use a timesheet for contractors?
Yes, for tracking hours billed. Contractors usually invoice for their time, so the timesheet should support that invoice.
How should I record overtime?
Add overtime hours on separate lines at the overtime rate, and note it. Check your local overtime rules.
Is the timesheet generator free?
Yes. The generator and PDF export are free, with no signup. The PDF carries a small Kitzone footer.
